ONLINE LEARNING WEEK 1

Welcome to your first week of parenting and teaching! On our Facebook Page you will find a post from the Junior School outlining some activities you can be doing while we wait for our packs to arrive. When these arrive we will be able to ring you all and help support you and your tamariki with this work. I will also be posting activities on here for you to try. Please pick and choose what activities suit you and your whanau :)

Reading:

  • Please keep reading/listening to your child. (Parents ask comprehension questions about the book)
  • Read different material such as newspaper, articles, recipe etc)
  • Read the poems posted on here.
  • Listen to stories online if accessible https://www.storylineonline.net
POEM IDEAS: 
  • Collect some autumn leaves around your house and put paper over one and shade over the leaf. 
  • Read the poem to someone in your house.
  • Draw a picture of you playing in the autumn leaves.




Maths:

    • Skip count in 2’s, 5’s, 10’s
    • Say the number before up to 20.
    • Say the number after up to 20. 
    • Check number formation is correct. 
    • DMIC Questions
    • Fractions.  Finding ½, ¼, ⅓ 
    • Count all the bears around your neighbourhood








































    DMIC Questions:
    -You go fishing. In the morning you catch 3 fish and then you catch another 7 more fish. How many fish did you catch altogether?

    - Myles had scored 6 points and his teammates scored 18 during their rugby game. How many points did they score altogether?

    -Charli-Kaye had 10 bracelets and Eva had 12 bracelets. How many bracelets did they have altogether?

    -My mum has painted 18 patterns on her tapa. Agnes has painted 7 more patterns than mum. How many patterns did Agnes paint?

    -Andrew helped by folding the washing. There are 8 towels, 2 tea towels, 17 T shirts, 3 pairs of shorts. How many items have you folded?


    Handwriting:

    Writing:
    • Write at least 3 sentences or more.
    • Discuss possible words, sentence starters, describing words to help them get started.
    • Encourage your child to give their spelling a go by using their word card and sounding out all the sounds they can hear. (Letter sounds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yp_hj4K9D5o)
    • Ask them to draw a picture about their writing first.
    • Get your child to check over their work for capital letters, full stops, letter formation, does it make sense.
    • Edit the work together after completion. 
      Writing themes you can choose:
      Describe what can you see, hear, smell in Autumn.












    Describe your favourite toy.


















    Discovery/PE/extra curricular ideas:
    • Learn how to tie their shoe lace
    • Skip 20 times forwards and 20 times backwards
    • Baking 
    • Draw the shadows of animals
    • Make an obstacle course around your property that you need to hop over, go under or go through.
    • Make something for ANZAC day that you could use at your gate.
    • See how many different birds are in your garden
    • Make a bird feeder
    • Create a piece of art for someone in your family or your neighbour
    • Te Reo:Find colours around your house and use the Te Reo words.
    Be mindful - Balance:
    • Take time to relax in the garden, walk around the block with the family or lay on the grass and make pictures out of the clouds.
    • Sit and listen to music that makes you feel happy.
    • Blow bubbles and watch them float up into the sky. Think about all your worries floating away from you.
    • Have a family meeting and talk to everyone about how they are feeling.

    1. For - Say the number before up to 20 and Say the number after up to 20. Do you mean counting to 20 and then backwards from 20? Sorry I don't understand
